Kenya Mihuti

This washed coffee comes from Mihuti Factory in Nyeri County, established in 1960 and operating under the Rugi Farmer Cooperative Society, a long-standing cooperative of 4,590 active members who tend plots averaging less than one hectare. During harvest, cherries are delivered daily, depulped, fermented overnight, and density-graded through concrete washing channels before being dried on raised beds for 7 to 15 days, and turned regularly for even drying. The town of Mihuti sits at 1,700 meters between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare range, and the combination of high elevation, volcanic soils, and meticulous factory processing yields a cup that is bright, layered, and unmistakably Nyeri.
