Tony's Launches Coffee Club Into Orbit

Do you love tasting new coffees? Wish you could drop by the roastery every month to pick up freshly roasted beans? Well, by golly, it sounds like our Coffee Club is just the thing for you. As a member of Tony's Coffee Club, you will receive two of our favorite new coffees on your doorstep every month.

How fresh is (too) fresh?

Last Friday, November 1st, we were lucky enough to take over La Marzocco's coffee lab in Old Ballard for our Roaster's Showcase.

(Side-note: if you're a coffee-lover and have not dropped by La Marzocco's showroom, add it to your list -the sheer volume of coffee knowledge housed under one roof is staggering).

We made a pretty coffee video.

We couldn't be happier with the short film we made with Bellingham-based Hand Crank Films. The 2-min video highlights the people that make what we do everyday possible. “We have always flown a bit under the radar, so when this project presented itself it seemed like the perfect avenue to share what we do,” said David Yake, Director of Education at Tony’s. The video also shows off the natural beauty of Bellingham.

Tony's Coffee Wins America's Best Espresso Competition

We had the distinct pleasure of competing in America's Best Espresso Competition at Seattle Coffee Fest. We are always on the lookout for new coffees that will make our espresso pop, but we decided to take a crowd-sourcing approach to finding the perfect blend for Coffee Fest. First, we created two different espresso blends, one consisting of a Guatemala, Colombia and Ethiopia, the other consisting of two coffees from Guatemala and a Kenya. We cupped these blends at the roastery and then pulled shots for our friends, customers and just about anyone that would taste with us.

Does it Really Taste Like That?

The best description of flavor we've ever seen didn't use any words at all. Here it is:

Simple But Not Easy

We at Tony’s Coffee and Teas are big fans of the philosophy that the best things in life, especially the best things we eat and drink, tend to be simple, but not easy to make. What do we mean by that? In the coffee world, it means that a great cup is composed of only a few elements (coffee, water, perhaps milk and sugar), some perfected techniques (growing, harvesting, processing, roasting and brewing) and a dedication to making the next cup better than the last by repeating what works and making adjustments on what doesn’t.

The Importance of the Go-to: Carmelita Blend

We all have them. When things get hectic and out of control, we need those little instruments of dependability, the ones that keep us sound, that give us a break from all the craziness. We like to call them go-tos. Whether it’s a favorite tool or recipe, the go-to represents one of those rare and comforting commodities in our lives: reliability.

Coffee Roasting 101

Tony's sample roasters. We roast, taste and score coffee samples from all over the world. Coffees must meet our standards before we purchase them.
