Tony's Takes 1st Place in Roaster's Choice Competition

Our own Director of Coffee, Andrew Bowman took home 1st prize in the Roaster’s Choice Competition at the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s trade show in Seattle in April. Andrew submitted a coffee that he roasted from the Cerro Azul farm in Colombia, a Gesha varietal that scored a whopping 95 points at coffeereview.com

After being named one of the six finalists for the competition, which took place at the 27th annul SCAA coffee exposition in Seattle this last April, our Colombia Cerro Azul was featured at the Brew Bar in the Coffee Championships arena. A panel of judges determined Andrew’s roast to be the best in the country. Andrew and a few other members from Tony’s celebrated the win with Cerro Azul cultivars Hernando and Felipe, who made the trip from Colombia for the exposition. When asked by Daily Coffee News how it felt to win, Andrew had this to say: “I feel proud that my roast did well in this competition, but I also feel excitement for the attention our success brings to the producers who put infinitely more work into it than we did.” You can read his entire interview with Daily Coffee News here.
